This Year We Have TWO Chefs!

The Nampa Farmers Market is excited that for the first time, we have TWO Market Chefs! They will be preparing recipes made from food found at the Market, sharing recipes and showing you how to get healthy, local food into your weekly meal plans!

Chef Nanci

Returning this season is Chef Nanci Canary. She “brings the flavors and ideas of the Market to both customers and friends of the NFM. She specializes in sampling a diverse selection of produce, specialty foods, and items available here at our Market!

2023 will be Chef Nanci’s 5th year with NFM! You might remember her from 2014 – 2016, and as our Chef at the Market 2022. As the “tasting booth of the market” you’ll be able to sample a wide variety of what our market has each day!
This Chef loves to talk food and crafts of all sorts. Her not-for-profit Return to Basics helps sponsor the talent and opportunities she brings to our market.

Chef Nanci also does business consulting, teaches several types of classes: including: basic cooking skills, specialty culinary class, home economics, basic sewing, and several types of crafts. She also has the privilege of taking these classes to area community location and makes them available to student from preschooler through grandparents. Chef Nanci says, “Helping homeschoolers and life groups experience fellowship with intentional purpose, and joy is a great thing!”

Chef Erin

Chef Erin Shearer is also returning to the Market this year. We’ll let her tell her story:

My name is Erin, I was born and raised in Jerome and now live in Boise with my husband and four kids on a teeny-tiny parcel where we raise chickens and keep bees along with our three cats, two dogs and even a rabbit.

We don’t have much space to have a garden so I rely heavily on the farmers market to fill the gaps and I’ve made so many great friends along the way.

Some might say that I’m obsessed with food, it’s absolutely true. If I’m not in my kitchen cooking for my family, I am probably out strolling the market and dreaming up our next meal.

I’ve been cooking for almost 20 years, inheriting the family Thanksgiving feast at 18.

I’ve worked with Le Cordon Bleu trained chefs on a meal planning app and my latest endeavor is my food blog where I create tasty recipes using real food ingredients for those living with food allergies and/or autoimmunity.

Not much gets me more excited than being able to buy the freshest local food that is better for people and the planet. I am so thrilled to be working with our local producers to bring you some amazing new recipe ideas to try with the best stuff available this season. Stop by and see what’s cooking!
